I throw these in one piece on the wheel with about 13oz of clay.
Once centred I make a well in the middle, then make a second groove a small distance from the well and pull out a small base. Then its just a case of pulling the up the walls. I can normally trim the bottom the following day and then they are left to dry for around 2 weeks.
They are fired twice in the kiln, the first the bisque fire and secondly the glaze fire reaching 1210 degrees C.
The bowls are then food safe and microwave/dishwasher proof.
