Hand thrown mug in stoneware clay. The wings and handle are added after the mug has dried for a day.
Once bisque fired I glaze the wings in a clear glaze and the mug in a green glaze, it is then fired again. Lastly I add gold to the tips of the feathers and it goes back in the kiln for the final time.
The green glaze comes out slightly darker than normal due to it going back in the kiln for the gold lustre firing.
The second photo shows the colour better.
I wouldn’t recommend putting this mug in the dishwasher. The mug will be fine but the gold will wear off.
